The dogs rushed inside.
They loved their walks off-lead. Where they could roam free.
Away from the confines of the home, which held them close for so much of their time.
She took a deep breath.
It felt the same. Same as it always was.
Same as it always had been.
And yet now it was different.
She turned to look at him as he entered their home.
He wasn’t the same as when they met so many many years before.
Neither was she.
And here they were apart in this moment, looking back, and looking forward. With the space of now and the two of them together so very hard.
